Meet the organizers!
Susan Liao
Susan E. Liao is a PhD candidate in the Biological Chemistry Department at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine advised by Professor Ryuya Fukunaga. Her research focuses on regulation of gene expression in developmental biology. She is interested in applications of machine learning to these questions.
Matt Linz
Matt Linz is a Research Coordinator in the Department of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His research interests include microbiology, genetics, immunology, host-pathogen and host-microbiome interactions, and neuroscience. He is also interested in applications of machine learning and computational biology to physiology and pathogenesis as well as the eventual use of machine learning for clinical decision making.
Jonathan Augustin
Jonathan Augustin is a Ph.D candidate in the Department of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Under the guidance of Dr. Loyal Goff, his research primarily focuses on the effect long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play in cortical development. He is very interested in using single cell high throughput genomics to study neurodevelopment and developmental disorders.
Abulhair Saparov
Abulhair Saparov is a Ph.D. candidate in the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University, advised by Professor Tom Mitchell. His research focuses on applications of statistical machine learning to natural language processing and reasoning. He is also more broadly interested in applications of statistical machine learning to other problems.
